If you’ve been to our shop before, you know what’s next: Three-ish fun facts about Aventurine. These however, aren’t your run-of-the-mill fun facts; these are must reads!

1. Aventurine holds the distinction of being the very first time a man-made material is identified and given a name before science used the name to describe a naturally occurring crystal. Confused? Read on!
2. The name Aventurine was derived from the Italian, ‘per ventura’ – meaning ‘by chance’. Originally, a glassmaker in Murano, Italy (Now part of Venice), accidentally dropped copper filings into molten glass creating a new kind of human-made gemstone.
3. He called his gemstone Aventurine. Sometime later, scientists discovered a new stone they named Aventurine after the Italian word, ‘avventura’ meaning adventure. So, what happened to the human-made Aventurine? The name was changed to Goldstone. The secret formula, which was re-created by an Italian glassworker named Bibiglia in 1827 after the original formula was lost, is still being used to make goldstone today.
4. Bonus fun fact: Archeologists have uncovered crudely carved artifacts made of Aventurine that are 2.3 million years old! Two million years before Homo Sapiens arrived on the scene, Aventurine was a favorite of Homo Habilis – a distant and extinct species that were an evolutionary predecessor of humans.

Can we be candid? Well, this is awkward – we’ll just assume that you said ‘yes’, okay? We opened SunnysSoulStones with nothing more than a wing and a prayer – minus the wing. We live on less than a thousand dollars a month. We got super-frugal and bought our business license out of that one month. Then, the next month we bought shipping and packing supplies and managed to save a little more on top of that. Over the next several months we saved enough to buy some inventory. Then we saved up for two more months to buy some more. I told you all that to make this point: We really had to be very, very selective on what crystals we bought. For our initial inventory, we couldn’t get anywhere close to everything we wanted to offer – we could barely get the absolute necessities. Aventurine was on that list; it’s that important. And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming!

IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE WORLD OF CRYSTALS - PLEASE READ:

We enthusiastically encourage everyone to do their own research including what Sunny calls, ‘an intuitive interview’ with all your crystals. Just as every person has things that make them unique, so too does every crystal. All humans and all Blue Aventurine crystals have things in common, but they are all individuals as well. Sit with them, be with them – and create an individualized relationship with your crystals. For every different crystal or stone that you order, you’ll find a brief description and some of our observations about the crystals strengths and uses. Rarely more than a paragraph, we keep it brief because we feel like it would be a disservice to spare you the journey. You already have everything you need to know everything there is about your crystal inside of you. Trust yourself! Nevertheless, if you have specific questions, never hesitate to message us.

And now, a few things we think you may wish to know:

1. Love isn’t being willing to take a bullet for someone. Love is letting them take one for you.
2. Regarding our photos: We are brand new to photography. All our photos are taken with an Android phone that has a non-working flash. We take all of our photos in a lightbox and then convert them to high definition to compensate for this. Our crystals are all photographed dry – never wet. Lastly, all our photographic efforts are designed to represent our products as honestly as we can.
3. All sizes/weights are estimates that are made in good faith. Lengths are calculated by measuring the longest side.
4. Before an order is shipped it sits on our alter during our thirty-minute morning meditation during which we dedicate Metta to the order heading to you. If for any reason, or even no reason, you would prefer we don’t do this with your order, please let us know so we can respect your wishes.
5. In every way that matters, we are all brothers and sisters awaiting the family reunion. Until then, if no one has told you they love you today, know that we do.
