Welcome to The Bree Zav Stone Lab! We are grateful you’ve decided to stop in.

This is our A-Grade tumbled Carnelian bulk listing!
At the very bottom of this page, we discuss grading. Unless otherwise noted, our tumbled sizes are always what are referred to in the industry as #3 size. Many also call them ‘Medium’ although that designation is sometimes used by some folks more subjectively. Number 3 size are defined as being between 15-25mm or 5/8”-1”.

In our listings in which we offer quantity discounts, we like to break our discounts down for you in a handy-dandy chart like this one:

Two $3.33 $1.66 each! 25% off!
Three $4.44 $1.48 each! 33% off!

Known as the Artist’s Stone, here are three fun facts about Carnelian.
1. In Revelations, Carnelian is said to be one of twelve gemstones lining the walls of Heaven. Additionally, and on the same theme, Moses’ brother Aaron’s breastplate consisted of twelve gems of which Carnelian was prominent
2. Ancient Egyptians called Carnelian the “setting sun” and used it as a burial amulet to grant the dead safe passage to the afterlife.
3. The word Carnelian comes to us from the Latin word, ‘Corneolus’ which described the Carnelian Cherry.

IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE WORLD OF CRYSTALS - PLEASE READ:

We enthusiastically encourage everyone to do their own research including what Sunny calls, ‘an intuitive interview’ with all your crystals. Just as every person has things that make them unique, so too does every crystal. All humans and all Carnelian crystals have things in common, but they are all individuals as well. Sit with them, be with them – and create an individualized relationship with your crystals. For every different crystal or stone that you order, you’ll find a brief description and some of our observations about the crystals strengths and uses. Rarely more than a paragraph, we keep it brief because we feel like it would be a disservice to spare you the journey. You already have everything you need to know everything there is about your crystal inside of you. Trust yourself! Nevertheless, if you have specific questions, never hesitate to message us.

And now, five-ish things we think you might want to know:

1. Half of the spiritual growth we’ve experienced in our life came from remembering things we had forgotten. The other half came from forgetting things we believed.
2. Regarding our photos: We are brand new to photography. All our photos are taken with an Android phone that has a non-working flash. We take all of our photos in a lightbox and then convert them to high definition to compensate for this. Our crystals are all photographed dry – never wet. Lastly, all our photographic efforts are to designed to represent our products as honestly as we can.
3. All sizes/weights are estimates that are made in good faith. Lengths are calculated by measuring the longest side.
4. Before an order is shipped it sits on our alter during our thirty-minute morning meditation during which we dedicate Metta to the order heading to you. If for any reason, or even no reason, you would prefer we don’t do this with your order, please let us know so we can respect your wishes.
5. In every way that matters, we are all brothers and sisters awaiting the family reunion. Until then, if no one has told you they love you today, know that we do.

If you have ANY questions, requests, suggestions, etc., please do not hesitate to message us. (psst!) You don’t really need a reason actually… we’d love to hear from you!

Grading Information:

All our graded products will include this section at the end of the listing. It will not change. You’ve no doubt seen Premium Grade, First Quality, A/B Grade, Good to Very Good, etc., etc. There is no end of grading systems out there – and no consistency. We would like to make things easier when you visit us so here is the grading system you’ll find here:

Special Quality: Best of the best. The next step up is faceted gemstones.
AAA-Grade: Also known as Extra Quality/
AA-Grade:
A-Grade:
AB-Grade:
B-Grade:

Although we don’t carry anything below this category, there are other categories including C-Grade and D-Grade. You might also see someone talking about a Mine Run. A Mine Run is unsorted product of mixed quality. That description, while accurate, is misleading. Here’s why: Let’s pretend that you are the mine fore-person. You are looking at unsorted amethyst and most of it is an incredibly deep purple that was almost blinding in its intensity. You’re probably not going to decide to bundle that up as ‘mine run’ are you? You’ll probably take the time to sort it, right? So, even though material labelled ‘mine run’ is mixed quality, it usually consists of a lower quality mix. Likewise with material graded AB. If there were more A-Grade specimens than B-Grade specimens, most folks would sort it rather than slap an AB grade on it.

It would be unethical of us to share wholesale pricing for specific products, but we want to offer two examples taken from the pricelist of one of our favorite wholesalers. First, an inexpensive crystal that they sell in four different grades.

B-Grade: $6.00 per pound
A-Grade: $8.50 per pound
AA-Grade: $14.00 per pound
AAA-Grade: $20.00 per pound

A-grade costs 42% more than B-Grade. AA-grade costs 233% more than B-Grade. AAA-Grade costs 333% more than B-Grade. Here’s one more example from a more expensive crystal that the same wholesaler sells in three grades.

B-Grade: $43.50/lb.
A-Grade: $72.25/lb.
AAA-Grade: $110.00/lb.

We added these examples hoping that you’d see how much of a price variation can occur between grades even with the same seller. The choice of what grade you buy is completely up to you – but we hope we’ve demystified the grading system somewhat.
