Welcome to Sunny’s! Please make yourself at home and if we can do anything to make your stay more enjoyable, send us a message!
This is a very special item for a number of reasons.
1. First, natural Citrine is getting increasingly difficult to source. This is why the vast majority of Citrine on the market is heat treated. This stone is natural. [See fun fact #3 below to learn how to verify this for yourself]
2. Second, when was the last time you saw Opalized Citrine for sale? Most have never heard of it – the heat-treated version is super hard to find. Natural is near impossible.
3. Third, this is a double-graded crystal. The Citrine is graded AAA – Extra Quality; but the Opalization is also graded A-Grade. We have never seen this before.
4. Fourth, we got a very, very good deal from our most trusted distributor. Like everything we get a great deal on, we pass it on to you.
This listing is for one (1) Extra-High-Quality tumbled Opalized Citrine graded A/AAA!
At the very bottom of this page, we discuss grading.
We are currently offering four (4) sizes:
Medium: 0.5” – 1.0”
Large: 1.0” – 1.5”
X-Large: 1.25” – 1.75”
2X-Large: 1.25” – 2.0”
Let’s start with three fun facts about Citrine!
1. The difference between regular citrine and Opalized Citrine is that the latter was formed with a higher concentration of water in the mineral. This creates some stunning visual effects.
2. The shimmering seen in Opalized Citrine is called opalescence.
3. Most Citrine on the market is heat-treated amethyst. The easiest way to tell is that all heat-treated crystals have a red tint while natural Citrine never does. There are instances of amethyst changing to Citrine under high heat in nature, but they have a brown tint rather than red.
P.S We just realized that some may not know… Although Opalized Citrine can have opalescence, there is no opal with.
IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE WORLD OF CRYSTALS - PLEASE READ:
We enthusiastically encourage everyone to do their own research including what Sunny calls, ‘an intuitive interview’ with all your crystals. Just as every person has things that make them unique, so too does every crystal. All humans and all Opalized Citrine crystals have things in common, but they are all individuals as well. Sit with them, be with them – and create an individualized relationship with your crystals. For every different crystal or stone that you order, you’ll find a brief description and some of our observations about the crystals strengths and uses. Rarely more than a paragraph, we keep it brief because we feel like it would be a disservice to spare you the journey. You already have everything you need to know everything there is about your crystal inside of you. Trust yourself! Nevertheless, if you have specific questions, never hesitate to message us.
And now, a few things we think you may wish to know:
1. When we stop looking for something to live for – we stop living.
2. You may have noted that we always start this section with a quote. The reason that we don’t credit anyone is because they are all our personal sayings. Though we tend to use a different quote for every stone, we do share the same quote within families – i.e., all Amethysts, Jaspers, Quartz, Calcites, etc.
3. Regarding our photos: We are brand new to photography. All our photos are taken with an Android phone that has a non-working flash. We take all of our photos in a lightbox and then convert them to high definition to compensate for this. Our crystals are all photographed dry – never wet. Lastly, all our photographic efforts are to designed to represent our products as honestly as we can.
4. All sizes/weights are estimates that are made in good faith. Lengths are calculated by measuring the longest side.
5. Before an order is shipped it sits on our alter during our thirty-minute morning meditation during which we dedicate Metta to the order heading to you. If for any reason, or even no reason, you would prefer we don’t do this with your order, please let us know so we can respect your wishes.
6. In every way that matters, we are all brothers and sisters awaiting the family reunion. Until then, if no one has told you they love you today, know that we do.
If you have ANY questions, requests, suggestions, etc., please do not hesitate to message us.
Grading Information:
All our graded products will include this section at the end of the listing. It will not change. You’ve no doubt seen Premium Grade, First Quality, A/B Grade, Good to Very Good, etc., etc. There is no end of grading systems out there – and no consistency. We would like to make things easier when you visit us so here is the grading system you’ll find here:
Special Quality: Best of the best. The next step up is faceted gemstones.
AAA-Grade: Also known as Extra Quality/
AA-Grade:
A-Grade:
AB-Grade:
B-Grade:
Although we don’t carry anything below this category, there are other categories including C-Grade and D-Grade. You might also see someone talking about a Mine Run. A Mine Run is unsorted product of mixed quality. That description, while accurate, is misleading. Here’s why: Let’s pretend that you are the mine fore-person. You are looking at unsorted amethyst and most of it is an incredibly deep purple that was almost blinding in its intensity. You’re probably not going to decide to bundle that up as ‘mine run’ are you? You’ll probably take the time to sort it, right? So, even though material labelled ‘mine run’ is mixed quality, it usually consists of a lower quality mix. Likewise with material graded AB. If there were more A-Grade specimens than B-Grade specimens, most folks would sort it rather than slap an AB grade on it.
It would be unethical of us to share wholesale pricing for specific products, but we want to offer two examples taken from the pricelist of one of our favorite wholesalers. First, an inexpensive crystal that they sell in four different grades.
B-Grade: $6.00 per pound
A-Grade: $8.50 per pound
AA-Grade: $14.00 per pound
AAA-Grade: $20.00 per pound
A-grade costs 42% more than B-Grade. AA-grade costs 233% more than B-Grade. AAA-Grade costs 333% more than B-Grade. Here’s one more example from a more expensive crystal that the same wholesaler sells in three grades.
B-Grade: $43.50/lb.
A-Grade: $72.25/lb.
AAA-Grade: $110.00/lb.
We added these examples hoping that you’d see how much of a price variation can occur between grades even with the same seller. The choice of what grade you buy is completely up to you – but we hope we’ve demystified the grading system somewhat.
